The Halls of Navy

"The Halls of Navy" book has been shipped
to all classmates who reserved an advance copy or donated a tale for inclusion
in the book. The original printing of 350 copies has been disposed of,
and its purpose has been served.
There were sixteen halls in 1950 when we graduated.
There are 25 today. Along the way, Melville, Griffin and Isherwood gave way to
Alumni and Nimitz. The chapel, with its beautiful crypt, focused our morality
and stands at the very core of Naval Academy facilities. The new Armel-Leftwich
Visitor center has become an important affiliate to this group of venerable
structures. They are truly a national treasure, now documented.
The resulting list of 28 buildings is as follows:

Requests were mailed to 470 classmates
(including 40 who did not graduate) asking for a stretch of your memories.
The feed-back was great; 68 stalwarts responded with over 100 tales
(some hilarious).
The book contains a chapter for each of the halls, including a
locator map, a picture of the hall, a picture and career brief on the
distinguished officer for whom the hall was named, and classmate anecdotes.
I hope that you have enjoyed its portrayal of the
Naval Academy and our school days together. This historic document is my contribution to the class of 1950 and the U.S.
Naval Academy.
