CAPT. EUGENE M. WISENBAKER, USN - NOV. 16, 2012

L.B. "By nature he is modest and unassuming; but when confronted with any task, he is first to attack. Being a connoisseur of pecan pies and such, he naturally appreciated the steerage, but when the ice thawed on the Severn, the steerage saw him no more, for he was out straining his back with the rest of the Varsity Crew. All those who know Gene will long remember him as a true gentleman." He earned postgraduate Aeronautical Engineering degrees from from U.S.N.P.G.S. and the California Institute of Technology. Highlights in his career include serving as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Air Systems Command; the Naval Air Rework Facility at Quonset Point, RI; and piloting the only jet-powered SP5B Martin Patrol Aircraft.
 
RADM. JAMES W. LISANBY, USN - NOV. 14,  2012

L.B." Son of a District Attorney, he showed early in life his studiousness by graduating as valedictorian of his high school class." Jim received a PE degree at MIT, and a PMD from Harvard Business University. He belonged to the Society of Naval Architecture.

L.B. " Believing that all work and no play made T.O. a dull boy, Ted detached himself from his slipstick long enough for crew, handball, music, and of course les femmes."
 
LTC. RICHARD L. STILL, USMC - SEP. 20, 2012

L.B. " Dick was noted for his straight-forward manner of doing things, his aptitude for languages, and his nose for finding a deal." He was shot down in Korea while serving as an aircraft observor and became a prisoner of war. He received the  Korean Service Medal with 5 Battle Stars, as well as  the Purple Heart. He served as Commander of the Honor Guard, USNA; later as Administrative Assistant to Congressman R.E. Lankford of the Fifth District of Maryland. Following receipt of LLB and LLM degrees at Georgetown University Law School he served as General Counsel for the Banking Commission in the U.S. House of Representatives. He became Assistant Professor of Business Law at Mississippi State University, retirning in 2008.
 
RADM. GEORGE E. JESSEN, USN - AUG. 11, 2012

He received his wings in 1952 and flew Neptunes with VP-871 and VP-19. George earned an MS at NPGS, and attended Oak Ridge School of Reactor Technology. He then flew A-3s with VAH-3 and VAH-5, and A-5as with the VAH-7 Vigilante Squadron. He was Project Officer for the F-111B, and was then selected for Assistant for Air to the Assistant for the Navy. In 1971 he commanded the Naval Air Rework Facility, Pensacola, FL. George then became project manager for the S-3A Viking for which he earned the Legion of Merit.  He was then Assistant Commander for Systems and Engineering, Naval Air Systems Command, for which he was awarded the Gold Star. Following retirement he worked for Rockwell International and then became Manager for the Northrop/McDonell Douglas Program for a proposed Navy Advance Tactical Fighter. He fully retired in 1989.
CDR. GERARD G. COLEMAN, USN - JUL. 15, 2012

 He attended flight training 1950-52; flew blimps in the ZP-3 anti-submarine warfare squadron; and was the Navy test pilot for Goodyear blimps in Akron, OH. He was stationed at Quonset Point where he flew S2F aircraft on and off carriers, 1952-55; BAR AKRON 1955-57; Postgraduate school 1957-59; served in the Strike Command, Tampa, FL, 1967-1969; and was Chief of Staff for Communications and Electronics in Danang, Viet Nam, where he received a bronze star and an air medal.
CPT. DONALD P. BRUBECK, USAF - JUL. 7, 2012

L.B. "Famous for his after dinner bull sessions and sermons on Navy life delivered from behind his battery of pipes, Don will be best remembered for his congeniality and easy-going manner."
 
COL. GEORGE D. MOORE, JR., USAF - JUL. 6, 2012

He entered the Strategic Air Command, USAF, after receiving his wings, and piloted the B-58 Hustler and the B-52 in the 1960's.He served one tour in Viet Nam, was Director of Maintenance for the SR-71 at Beal AFB, CA, and was Commander of the B-52 Wing at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota.
LT. DONALD C. LONG, USN - JUL. 04, 2012

Don was originally assigned to the U.S.S. DUNCAN in the Korean theater. He earned his wings, and was assigned to U.S.S. Oriskany from 1952 to 1955 and was a flight instuctor until his release from active duty in 1956. He was C.E.O. of Southern Chemical Storage and Transit Company thereafter.
RADM. GEORGE B. SHICK, JR., USN - JUN. 17, 2012


He was assigned U.S.S. ROGERS; then XO, U.S.S. GULL; Advanced Mine Countermeasures and Mine Warfare Staff Officers School; CO, U.S.S.FRIGATE BIRD; Command Communications Course at USNPGS; Staff, COMDESFLOT-5 at Pearl; Command and Staff Course, NavWarCol; XO, U.S.S. GYATT, through 1962.
 
LCDR. GEORGE D. FERGUSON, III, USN - JUN. 14, 2012

He served in U.S.S. TOLEDO, U.S.S. DOYLE,and U.S.S. PHOEBE. Following a staff assignment with COMINPAC in 1958, he attended NPGS for a degree in Engineering Electronics. He was the Exec on U.S.S. CABILDO, then had a staff assignment with DIRLand Docks, London.
 
CAPT. WAYNE L. JENSEN, USN - MAY 11, 2012

Following service on the U.S.S. George, he received his wings and was assigned to Patrol Squadron 18, then USNPGS. He served in Helicopter Anti-submarine  Squadron 4, followed by an assignment to BUPERS, D.C. He was Class Corresponding Secretary for 42 years.

L.B. "Considerate, understanding and mature, Jack is always the well mannered gentleman."
 
COL ROBERT G. SMITH, USAF - APR. 24, 2012

L.B. " Unlike most, Smitty is a star that everyody likes, for with his sense of humor and affable manner, no one can help being friendly toward him." Being an R&D type he earned two MA Degrees at the University of Michigan, and worked in  Air Force Research and Development, including a tour at Cape Canaveral , Florida.
 
CDR. C. HOWLE YOUNG, JR., USN - MAR. 25, 2012


L.B. "He plays a good game of golf, handball, touch football or any other games he's tried. We will always recall him for his cooperation, good nature, and ability to make friends." Pete received  an M.S. degree from the Naval Postgraduate School, and was a teacher after retiring from the service.
 
LTC. ROGER E. BOYD, USAF - FEB. 20, 2012

Roger received a Masters Degree in Nuclear Physics from Ohio State University, and a Masters Degree in Computer Science from American Techical University. He served in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy and ten years in the U.S. Air Force. He also worked ten years for Boeing Aerospace and ended his his military career as a civil servant at Fort Hood in 1990. After retiring he owned and operated Stagecoach Properties in Temple, Texas.
CAPT. ALEXANDER LAW KIVLEN, USN - FEB. 17, 2012


L.B. " Academically speaking, Law is a brain, turning in a starring performance all along the line. Almost his second nature to smile at everything, however whimsical, he struck up many a friendship." He was initially assigned the U.S.S. LEARY; received his wings in 1953, and flew FiF5's and F7U-4m's. As a civilian he was a Project Engineer for  Air Products Inc., working on LOX generators; then a Basic Formation Flight Instructor at Whiting Field, Milton, FL. He received MS Degrees at George Washington University and the Navy Post Graduate School. Later he worked for the Fairfax County Park Authority.
CDR. WALTER E. DAVIS, JR., USN - FEB. 12, 2012


Assigned to U.S.S. St. Paul, U.S.S. Linnet, and attended RPI for Post-Graduate work. He was assigned NAD, Hingham, MA; BuOrd/BuWeps, and  the Staff of the Chief of Naval Air Training, Pensacola, FL. He later retired as Manager, Public Works Utility, Woodinville Water District, Seattle, WA.

CAPT. JOHN J. RYAN, JR., USN - FEB. 7, 2012


L.B. "Thoroughly saturated with Navy, he anticipates the next twenty years in the fleet, where his seemingly easy-going ways, but keen ability to cut through triflings, will assure him his well deserved success." He reeived an MS in Nuclear Physics from the University of Rochester. He was Supervisor of Ship Building in New Orleans, LA and retired as Deputy Commander from the Naval Ship Engineering Center. After retiring he became Senior Vice-President in charge of the Washington Office of George G. Sharp, Inc. until his retirement in 1992.

LTJG. GUY C. CHEATHAM, USN - FEB. 3, 2012


L.B. "It was Dad's Paul Bunyan figure that first made him stand out among his classmates; and later as we came to know him better, we found he had a heart just as big and got things done just as fast as the legendary woodsman." Retiring as Plant Manager for Proctor and Gamble, he founded Cheatham and Associates consultancy and developed Stillwater Farms in Macon, GA.

LTJG. JAMES S. LASSING, USN - JAN. 25, 2012


Jim served on U.S.S. WORCESTER off Korea, then on the pre-commissioning detail for U.S.S. NORFOLK. He resigned in 1954 and received a Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He joined General Electric and was assigned to their jet engine plant in Cincinnati.
